Kustom MX offers two premium vinyl options for your motocross graphics — but what sets them apart?
Let’s break it down.
1. One-Piece Vinyl – Built for the Track
Our industry-leading one-piece decal is engineered for racers and serious riders who demand top-tier performance. We start with an ultra-durable 500-micron clear vinyl, reverse-print the design directly onto it, then screen a white ink layer over the artwork to provide the white base and backing for the colors. Finally, it's finished with a high-tack polypropylene adhesive for unbeatable stick.
The result? A high-gloss, ultra-thick, incredibly durable decal that’s designed to withstand the toughest conditions — all in a single layer. The one-piece construction eliminates the risk of delamination, making it the most rugged option we offer.
Worth noting: Because the white backing is screen printed ink rather than solid vinyl, the design can be slightly transparent. If you're applying over OEM plastics with baked-in graphics, those underlying designs may show through slightly. Additionally, this option is only available in a gloss finish.
2. Substance Vinyl – Versatile and Customizable
Our second option is the industry-standard Substance vinyl, a reliable, high-quality material ideal for most riders — especially those applying graphics to OEM plastics. This decal starts with a white vinyl base (with adhesive already applied), then your design is digitally printed on top. A 200–300 micron clear laminate is then applied for added protection and finish.
This method completely eliminates transparency issues, making it a better choice for covering OEM graphics.
Customization is where this option shines. Choose from a range of specialty base vinyl's like:
- Holographic for a shifting, color-changing effect
- Chrome for a sleek, mirror-like finish
Since these vinyl's form the base of the decal, any white areas in your design will show as holographic or chrome.
For laminates, you can pick from:
- Gloss
- Matte
- Cosmic Shift (Glitter)
Please note: Specialty vinyl's and laminates like holographic, chrome, and cosmic shift do come with an additional cost.
Considerations: Because this decal is made from two layers (print + laminate), there is a slight risk of delamination over time. Also, while durable, it's a bit thinner than our one-piece option and may wear faster in high-abrasion or race conditions.
Whether you're looking for race-proven durability or eye-catching customization, Kustom MX has a vinyl option to match your style and performance needs. We hope this guide makes your decision a little easier!
